The 2006-07 season was a mixed campaign for Tottenham Hotspur, as they continued to establish themselves as a competitive force in English football under Martin Jol. Spurs finished 5th in the Premier League for the second consecutive season, securing UEFA Cup qualification, while also making deep runs in cup competitions, reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals and the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. However, the season marked the departure of veteran midfielder Edgar Davids, who had joined Spurs in 2005, bringing experience and tenacity to the squad. Known for his aggressive tackling and leadership, Davids played a crucial role in helping Tottenham’s young team develop a winning mentality. However, by January 2007, his influence had diminished, and he returned to Ajax after making 13 appearances in his final season at White Hart Lane. Though his time at Spurs was short, Davids’ impact on the club’s midfield and his role in their rise as a top-six contender in English football left a lasting impression.
