Tecos FC, officially known as Club Deportivo Estudiantes Tecos, was a Mexican football club based in Zapopan, Jalisco. Founded in 1971 and affiliated with the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG), the club quickly rose through the ranks of Mexican football. Their greatest achievement came in the 1993-94 season when they won their first and only Liga MX title, defeating Santos Laguna in the final. Tecos was known for its strong emphasis on developing young talent and maintaining a competitive presence in the top flight. However, financial struggles and declining performances led to their relegation from Liga MX in 2012. The club underwent a rebranding as Estudiantes Tecos before eventually being dissolved in 2014, with its franchise rights transferred to Mineros de Zacatecas. Despite their disappearance from professional football, Tecos remains a memorable club in Mexican football history, especially for its unique university backing and its surprise league triumph in the 1990s.
