During the 2010-11 season, Portuguese midfielder Maniche joined Sporting Lisbon (Sporting CP) as an experienced addition to the squad, bringing a wealth of top-level experience from his time at clubs like Porto, Atlético Madrid, and Chelsea. However, his stint at Sporting was underwhelming, as both the team and the player struggled for consistency. Maniche made 26 appearances in all competitions, contributing with his leadership and passing ability, but he was unable to have a significant impact in a disappointing campaign for the club. Sporting finished third in the Primeira Liga, well behind rivals Porto and Benfica, and failed to challenge for major silverware.
