During the 2016-17 season, Rangers signed Niko Kranjčar as part of their squad rebuild following their return to the Scottish Premiership. The Croatian playmaker arrived with a wealth of experience from spells at Tottenham, Portsmouth, and Dynamo Kyiv, bringing creativity and technical quality to the midfield. Fans were excited about his potential impact, given his vision, passing ability, and knack for scoring from distance. However, Kranjčar’s season was derailed by injury, as he suffered a serious knee ligament injury in October, which effectively ended his campaign. His time at Rangers was ultimately frustrating, as he was unable to regain full fitness and show his true ability before leaving the club in 2018. Despite his limited contributions on the pitch, his signing reflected the club’s ambition to re-establish themselves as a top force in Scottish football.
