Jonás Gutiérrez became a cult hero at Newcastle United, known for his tireless work ethic, versatility, and resilience on and off the pitch. The Argentine winger joined the club from Mallorca in 2008 and quickly became a fan favorite with his energetic playing style and trademark Spiderman mask celebration. He played a key role in Newcastle’s promotion back to the Premier League in 2010 and was instrumental in their impressive fifth-place finish in the 2011-12 season. However, his time at the club took a dramatic turn when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2013. After bravely battling the disease, Gutiérrez made an emotional return to the team, famously scoring in Newcastle’s final game of the 2014-15 season to help secure Premier League survival. Despite being released shortly after, his courage and dedication left an enduring legacy, and he remains a beloved figure among Newcastle supporters.
