Mario Gómez was a prolific striker for the German national team, known for his physical presence, aerial ability, and clinical finishing. He made his international debut in 2007 and was part of Germany’s golden generation that consistently competed at the highest level in major tournaments. Although he struggled at Euro 2008, he redeemed himself at Euro 2012, finishing as one of the tournament’s top scorers with three goals. Despite missing out on Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning squad due to injury, Gómez made a strong comeback at Euro 2016, playing a key role in Joachim Löw’s attack. Across his international career, he scored 31 goals in 78 appearances, providing a reliable goal-scoring option whenever called upon. While often criticized for inconsistency in big moments, his ability to find the net and his resilience made him a respected figure in German football history.
