However, disaster struck when the team’s flight tragically crashed en route to the final, claiming the lives of most of the squad, coaching staff, and journalists on board. The tragedy shook the football world, but in the face of unimaginable loss, Chapecoense rebuilt with remarkable spirit. Supported by the global football community, the club rose again, winning the 2017 Campeonato Catarinense and later securing a return to the Brazilian Série A. Their story remains one of heartbreak, resilience, and an enduring legacy of those lost but never forgotten.
