A relentless competitor, Savage played a crucial role in keeping the Blues competitive in the Premier League, forming a solid partnership with the likes of Damien Johnson and David Dunn. His combative nature made him a fan favorite at St. Andrew’s, but it also earned him a reputation as one of the league’s most fiery midfielders. However, his time at Birmingham came to a controversial end midway through the season when he pushed for a move to Blackburn Rovers, citing personal reasons. Despite his abrupt departure, Savage’s influence during his time at Birmingham City was undeniable, as he helped establish them as a tough, resilient side in the top flight.
