The 2003-04 season was a defining one for Wayne Rooney at Everton, as the teenage sensation continued his meteoric rise in English football. Having already announced himself with a stunning last-minute winner against Arsenal the previous season, Rooney became a key figure in David Moyes’ squad despite his young age. His strength, technical ability, and fearlessness made him one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League. He scored nine league goals that season, including a brilliant solo effort against Leeds United, showcasing his ability to change games single-handedly. However, with Everton struggling in the bottom half of the table and financial pressures mounting, speculation about his future intensified. By the end of the campaign, it became clear that the Toffees would struggle to hold onto their prodigious talent, and in the summer of 2004, Rooney made a blockbuster move to Manchester United, marking the end of his boyhood club chapter and the beginning of a legendary career.
