The 2000-01 season was a challenging one for Paul Gascoigne at Everton, as injuries and off-field struggles limited his impact at Goodison Park. Having joined the club in the summer of 2000 under his former Rangers manager Walter Smith, Gascoigne arrived with hopes of reigniting his career in the Premier League. However, he struggled for consistent fitness and form, making just 14 league appearances and failing to score. Despite flashes of his trademark skill and vision in midfield, his influence on the team was minimal, and he found himself in and out of the squad. Everton endured a difficult campaign, finishing 16th in the table, and Gascoigne’s time at the club never truly took off as expected. By the following season, injuries and personal battles continued to affect him, and he eventually left Everton in 2002 to join Burnley, marking the final stages of his playing career.
