As the club’s main goal-scoring threat, Élber played a crucial role in leading Bayern to the Bundesliga title, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 21 goals. His clinical finishing, intelligent movement, and technical skill made him a nightmare for defenders, and he formed a strong partnership with Bayern’s attacking talents. While Bayern dominated domestically, their Champions League campaign ended in disappointment, as they failed to progress past the group stage. Despite European struggles, Élber’s individual brilliance helped Bayern secure a domestic double, winning both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal. His performances in the 2002-03 season cemented his legacy as one of Bayern Munich’s greatest strikers before he left the club the following summer.
