Park Ji-sung is one of South Korea’s greatest footballers, known for his tireless work ethic, versatility, and leadership on the international stage. He was a key figure in South Korea’s historic 2002 FIFA World Cup campaign, where the team, co-hosting the tournament, shocked the world by reaching the semi-finals. Park scored a memorable goal against Portugal in the group stage, securing South Korea’s place in the knockout rounds. He continued to be a vital player for the national team in subsequent World Cups, scoring in three consecutive tournaments (2002, 2006, and 2010), a rare achievement for an Asian player. As South Korea’s captain, he led by example with his relentless energy and ability to perform in big moments. After earning over 100 caps, he retired from international football in 2011, leaving behind a legacy as South Korea’s most accomplished player, inspiring future generations with his success in both European club football and the national team.
